AIC Acquires Assets of Harrison Industrial Technologies, Inc.

American Industrial Corporation announced the purchase of the business assets of Harrison Industrial Technologies, Inc. of Fairfield, OH.  AIC’s Mark Shriver stated that “we believe the acquisition of HIT fits very well within our core business and the addition of their customer base to the AIC family will significantly enhance our distributed product and engineered system opportunities within the tri-state area”.  HIT’s Fairfield, OH operation will be closed and all related Inside Sales, Shipping and Service support will be handled from AIC’s Greenwood, Indiana facility.

Harrison Industrial Technologies began doing business in 1917 as Harrison Tire and Rubber Company, selling tires and DeVilbiss equipment.  After purchasing the company in 1978, Dick Hellmer and his family added strategic product lines to grow the company into a highly respected finishing equipment distributor / system integrator with loyal customers throughout the tri-state area.  Dick Hellmer acknowledged that “after making the decision to leave the business, it was important to Joan, Rick, Brenda and I that we leave our valued customers in good hands.  We believe that we have done so, with the sale of the business to American Industrial Corporation.”

Established in 1969, AIC is the Midwest’s premier supplier of engineered systems, equipment, accessories, service and spare parts for the application of liquid & powder coatings as well as sealant & adhesive materials.  Representing brands like ABB Robotics, Binks, Col-Met, Columbus Industries, DeVilbiss, Fanuc Robotics, Gema, Graco, Koch Filter and Ransburg, AIC is uniquely positioned to service all of our customer’s application needs.

Graco Introduces Agitator Speed Controller

Graco’s Agitator Speed Control improves the consistency of pneumatic agitators by maintaining a constant agitator speed as the material level inside the drum decreases.  This improved process control lowers energy consumption, minimizes the formation of air bubbles and reduces excessive material shearing.

EPA Rescinds Burn-off Oven Rules

The US Environmental Protection Agency has retracted new rules for burn-off ovens used in the finishing industry after a federal judge refused to grant them an extension in a lawsuit over the Clean Air Act.  The EPA in February announced that it was stripping out the proposed rules on burn-off ovens – used by coaters to remove powder coating and paints from racks – because of protests from the industry when the proposed regulations were first announced last fall.  Contact your local AIC Finishing Specialist or click here for additional information on adding or updating burn-off ovens to your finishing operation.
